Terms of use
Updated 2026-09-19
These are the terms for using Surfboards and Fins. They are written in plain language, not legal jargon, and they apply to every page on this site. Effective 2026-09-19.
Who runs this site
Surfboards and Fins is run by one person, unnamed on this site. Every review, board page and tool comes from that same operator, working from a personal log of boards bought, ridden and sold.
This is opinion, not advice
Everything here is personal opinion formed from boards the operator bought or rode, not professional advice of any kind. A review reflects one rider's experience on one board, in the conditions logged at the time, and nothing here should be read as a recommendation that a specific board is right for you. Surfing carries real risk, including injury, and any equipment decision, including which board, fin or wetsuit to buy, is entirely the reader's own to make.
No warranty on accuracy
Dimensions, prices, sale prices, speeds, wave lengths and every other figure on this site come from a personal register kept alongside the boards themselves, as recorded at the date shown on each page. Figures are believed accurate at that date, and some values in the register are marked uncertain where the original number was never independently confirmed. This site makes no warranty, express or implied, that any figure, description or opinion is complete or free of error.
Copyright
The text, photos and videos on this site belong to the operator, except where a page states otherwise. You may read, view and share a link to this site freely. Copying text or images for your own personal, non-commercial use, such as saving a spec for your own reference, is fine. Republishing an article, or a substantial part of one, on another site or in another publication is not permitted without permission. Scraping this site's content, in bulk or by automated means, is not permitted. Using this site's text, photos or videos to train a machine learning or AI model is not permitted without permission.
YouTube videos
Reviews are paired with the matching video from the Surfboards and Fins YouTube channel, embedded in privacy-enhanced mode. Watching an embedded video is subject to YouTube's own terms of service, separate from this site's terms.
Advertising
This site is funded by advertising served through Google AdSense. An ad appearing on this site is not an endorsement of the advertised product or service by this site or its operator, and ad selection is controlled by Google, not by this site.
External links
Where a page links to another site, that link is provided as is, for reference or further reading. This site does not control, and is not responsible for, the content of any external site it links to.
Changes to this site
Pages, prices, figures and the boards described on this site may change or be removed at any time as the register is updated, a board sells, or a page is revised. There is no obligation to notify anyone of a change.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, this site and its operator are not liable for any loss or damage arising from use of this site, reliance on anything written here, or any equipment decision made after reading a page on this site. This includes, without limitation, any injury sustained while surfing a board of the type or make discussed here.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Australia.
Questions people ask
Can I quote a review in something I write?
A short quote with a link back to the original page is fine. A large section of the text, or a full article republished elsewhere, is not permitted without permission.
Can I use a photo from this site?
For your own personal, non-commercial use, such as reference when buying a similar board, that is fine. Using a photo in another publication, on another site, or in advertising is not permitted without permission.
Are the figures on this site exact?
No. Figures come from a personal register kept at the time, and some are marked uncertain in the register itself where the original number was never independently confirmed. Treat every figure as a well-kept record, not a certified measurement.
Do these terms cover YouTube or Google's own services?
No. Watching an embedded video is covered by YouTube's terms, and ad delivery is covered by Google's own policies. This page covers only what this site itself does.
