I am the surfer behind Surfboards and Fins, name is not important. Over more than a decade I have ridden and logged 150 surfboards: 121 sold, 29 still in the rack. Every board on this site has been paddled out on, not just unboxed.
What gets logged
Each board carries its own sessions, top speed and longest wave, alongside what it cost and, if it moved on, what it sold for. That log is the source for every number on this site, not memory and not a spec sheet handed over by a shaper.
What a review here is
A review starts with a board bought at retail price or custom built and paid for myself. I ride it across a run of sessions, film the verdict for the Surfboards and Fins YouTube channel, then write it up here from that same footage.
What a review here is not
No sponsored boards. No board sent by a shaper, distributor or shop with expectation of coverage. No paid placement, and no affiliate link anywhere on the site. If a board or fin did not work for me, the review says what it did and who it would suit, and who it would not, rather than pretending otherwise.
How the site earns
Advertising, and nothing else. No board or fin set is sold here, and there is no coaching, no course and no product sitting behind the reviews. The full picture is on the advertising page.
Where I surf
Most of the log comes from time spent on Australia's east coast, with a run of boards built and ridden for trips to the Maldives and Philippines. Some boards were tested in USA, NZ, Fiji and Indonesia. That split is why the quiver covers everything from heavier point break boards to small, warm righthanders, and why a handful of reviews talk about a board's fit for a trip rather than a home break.

Why isn't your name on the site?
The reviews are about the boards, not the reviewer. Every fact on the site is checked against the log rather than a byline.
Do you accept free boards for review?
It's rare. Most boards were bought at retail or custom ordered and paid for.
