Privacy policy for Surfboards and Fins
Updated 2026-09-19
This page explains, in plain language, what this site collects and why. It is not legal advice, just a straight statement of what actually happens when you visit. Effective 2026-09-19.
Advertising cookies
This site runs Google AdSense. AdSense can set cookies in your browser to help choose which ad you see and to measure how ads perform. If you are in the EEA or the UK, a consent message appears before any advertising cookie is set, and you can accept or decline it there. Where Google shows a US state opt-out option, it is presented the same way, through Google's own consent tools rather than anything built by this site.
YouTube videos
Reviews are paired with the matching video from the Surfboards and Fins YouTube channel. Videos are embedded in privacy-enhanced mode: nothing loads from YouTube, and no cookie is set, until you press play on the video yourself. Before that, you see a thumbnail image only.
No analytics beyond this
Server-side analytics from the hosting provider is the only visit data this site keeps. There is no Google Analytics, no tracking pixel and no other analytics script running here.
No email list
This site does not run an email list, a newsletter or a sign-up form. Nothing you do here adds you to a mailing list.
No contact form
This site has no contact page, no email address published and no form that collects your details. The operator can be reached through the channel's YouTube or Instagram profile.
Changes to this page
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page moves and the change is described here in the same plain language. Checking back on this page from time to time is the only way to see what has changed, since no notice is emailed out.
Third parties on this page
Google AdSense and YouTube are the only outside services this site uses. Each runs under its own privacy policy for anything that happens once you interact with its part of the page, an ad or an embedded video. This page covers what this site itself does; it does not rewrite Google's own policies, which apply in addition to this one. The terms of use cover copyright and how the content on this site may be used.
Questions people ask
Do I need to accept cookies to read a review?
No. Declining the advertising consent message still lets you read every page. You may see fewer or less targeted ads.
Does pressing play on a video send anything to YouTube before I click?
No. The video sits as a plain thumbnail until you press play, the same privacy-enhanced embed used across the site.
Is my visit tracked individually?
No. The only record kept is server-side analytics from the hosting provider, which does not identify you personally.
Can I ask what data you hold on me?
There is very little to ask about. This site keeps no email list and runs no contact form, so the only data involved is what AdSense and hosting logs collect, covered above.
Do you sell or share visitor data?
No. Nothing collected here is sold or shared with anyone outside running the site itself.
