The Vouch Mid Vish 6'10 is a mid-length all-rounder twin fin, a board the register calls not a great paddler but genuinely responsive and fun once up and riding.
What it is and why I bought it
I bought this Mid Vish stock in February 2019, a PU board with a medium rocker and soft rails, running a bottom from belly into vee into a double concave vee, finished with a swallow tail in a twin fin setup. At 21 1/4 inches wide and 42 litres over 6'10, it was built as a mid-length all-rounder.
It came in a tobacco colourway.
How it surfed
Its best wave came at Dee Why, at a top speed of 27 km/h (about 16.8 mph) over a 170 metre ride, using CC Keels. It confirmed the trade-off noted directly in the register: paddling was not a strength, but the board was responsive and fun to ride once up on a wave. The logged wave range is 2 to 5 ft, ideal at 4 ft.
Who it suits and who it does not
A mid-length twin fin like this suits someone who prioritises how a board turns and feels once riding over how easily it paddles, since that is exactly the trade-off this board makes. It is a weaker fit for anyone who most values effortless wave-catching, since paddling was its acknowledged weak point.
What happened to it
It sold on 12 March 2023 for $950, against a $1,350 purchase cost. A replacement cost of $1,720 is also logged against it, for comparison against what it originally cost.
