The Christenson C-Hawk is a 6'0 modern retro twin fin, built for good, clean conditions rather than everyday marginal surf.
What it is and why I bought it
I bought the C-Hawk stock in April 2018, a PU board with a flat rocker, medium rails and a bottom running from a belly into a single, then a double, finished with a swallow single flyer tail. At 20 inches wide over 6'0, the register describes it directly as a modern retro twin for good conditions.
It came in a white with black edges colourway.
How it surfed
Its best wave came at Queensy, at a top speed of 25 km/h (about 15.5 mph) over a 70 metre ride, using Ryan Lovelace keel fins. It wanted specific, good conditions rather than everyday use across all kinds of surf. The logged wave range is 2 to 5 ft, ideal at 4 ft.
Who it suits and who it does not
A modern retro twin fin like this suits someone who wants a specific board for clean, good-quality conditions rather than an all-purpose everyday shape. It is a less obvious pick for someone who only has access to marginal or inconsistent surf, since it was logged and used specifically around better sessions.
What happened to it
It sold on 12 March 2022 for $680, against a $940 purchase cost. A replacement cost of $975 is also logged against it, for comparison against what it originally cost.
