The Vouch Devo 2+1 is a 7'0 stock twin fin, run in a widowmaker fin-box setup, logged directly as a board able to ride in anything.
What it is and why I bought it
I bought the Devo 2+1 stock in August 2018, a PU board with a medium rocker and soft-to-hard rails, running a single concave into a double vee, finished with a pin tail in a widowmaker configuration, meaning the front fin box sits further forward than a standard twin. At 21 inches wide and 43 litres over 7'0, it was built as a modern retro all-rounder.
It came in an ice blue colourway.
How it surfed
Its best wave came at Dee Why, at a top speed of 25.7 km/h (about 16 mph) over a 158.7 metre ride, with a Takayama or Parmenter-style single fin option also noted alongside the standard setup. It backed up the register's own verdict directly: ride in anything, a genuine all-rounder result across the 2 to 6 ft range it was logged against, ideal at 5 ft.
Who it suits and who it does not
A widowmaker-setup twin fin like this suits someone who wants a single board to cover a wide spread of everyday conditions without needing to think too hard about which board to grab. It is a less specialised choice for anyone chasing a dedicated small-wave or big-wave shape, since its whole strength is versatility.
What happened to it
It sold on 8 March 2021 for $890, against a $1,500 build cost. A replacement cost of $1,500 is also logged against it, for comparison against what it originally cost.
