The Morning of the Earth Tracks Twinny is a 6'0 custom step-up twin fin, built for good, clean, bigger waves rather than everyday small surf.
What it is and why I bought it
I ordered this Tracks Twinny in February 2018, a PU board with a flat rocker and soft-to-hard rails, running an early, subtle single concave into a channel vee, finished with a round tail. At 20 1/2 inches wide and 36.5 litres over 6'0, the register describes it as liking good, clean, bigger waves with some push, starting at 4 ft.
It came in a half blue half purple colourway.
How it surfed
Its best wave came at Dee Why, at a top speed of 29.3 km/h (about 18.2 mph) over a 220 metre ride, using Futures Blue EN fins. It confirmed the board's step-up character, holding speed and control once the waves had real size. The register also notes the same job could be covered by a 6'8 board instead, a length preference rather than a fault. The logged wave range is 3 to 6 ft, ideal at 5 ft.
Who it suits and who it does not
A step-up twin fin like this suits someone who wants a shorter board specifically for good, bigger surf rather than a longer step-up. It is a weaker fit for anyone who has since found a slightly longer board does the same job better, which is exactly the note the register makes here.
What happened to it
It sold in January 2020 for $700, matching its logged asking price, against a $1,400 build cost.
